Vacuum coating is a technology that produces thin film materials by physical methods. It separates the atoms of the material in the vacuum chamber from the heating source and hits them on the surface of the plated object. This technology was first used to produce optical lenses, such as marine telescope lenses. Later, it was extended to other functional films, record aluminum plating, decorative coating and material surface modification. For example, watch shells are plated with imitation gold, mechanical tool coating, and processing red hardness is changed. At present, the forms of vacuum coating can be roughly divided into evaporation coating, sputtering coating and ion plating.
Among them, heating and evaporating a certain substance to make it deposited on the solid surface is called evaporation coating. This is the earliest coating technology and one of the commonly used coating technologies in modern times; sputtering coating refers to the bombardment of the solid surface with high-energy particles, which can make the particles on the solid surface gain energy and escape from the surface and deposit on the substrate; and the latest coating technology-ion plating refers to the molecules of the evaporated substance being ionized by electron collision and deposited on the solid surface as ions. Ion plating technology refers to the combination of vacuum evaporation and cathode sputtering technology. It combines the characteristics of evaporation and sputtering processes, and has good diffraction properties. It can coat workpieces with complex shapes. However, the price of ion plating machines is more expensive than traditional vacuum plating machines.
